IBPSA, the International Building Performance Simulation Association, is a non-profit international organisation of building simulation researchers, developers and practitioners, dedicated to improve the occupants'comfort and the environment. IBPSA is structured in regional affiliates already present in several countries.
In the framework of the Swiss national network BRENET ("Building and Renewable Energies Network of Technology"), which is acknowledged by the Swiss Federal Office of Energy, researchers and developers already share competences in the building domain. Therefore, a coordination group emanating from BRENET has set up the national organisation “IBPSA-Switzerland".
The main goal of IBPSA-CH is to promote the development and use of building simulation in order to improve the design, construction, operation, and maintenance of new and existing buildings. It will be achieved with the following actions:
- Promotion of building simulation
- Training of practitioners
- Increase the mobility of young researchers to improve their simulation skills
- Dissemination of the latest developments in the field
- Determination of the needs for future improvement in building simulation
- Organisation of a specific session in national conferences
- Reward, at national level, the most outstanding paper in building simulation
The building simulation areas of interest of IBPSA-CH are :
- Acoustics: Room acoustic, acoustic insulation
- Building equipments: HVAC, renewable energy
- Building physics: U-value, moisture and condensation, thermal comfort, thermal bridge
- Energy demand: Heating and cooling demand of buildings
- Environmental impacts: Life cycle impacts assessments (energy, materials, transport and services)
- Fire: fire spread, occupants evacuation
- Indoor air quality: natural and forced air flow
- Integrated simulation: data modelling, interoperability and integrated simulation
- Lighting: daylighting and artifical lighting
- Teaching and e-learning: Advanced simulation teaching, Web-based lectures
